The Less-Well-Known Ron Paul Victory in Georgia

While all of the attention is on Minnesota's brilliant Ron Paul victory, maybe few people know about the battle which took place at the Georgia state GOP convention on Saturday.

They had no shining victory, winning a majority of Paul-devoted delegates to the RNC. The establishment slate was elected.

They had no coup, placing their chosen leaders in top ranking GOP positions. The expected establishment national chairman and woman were elected.

They went into the fight without knowing the odds, having no clue what the outcome might be, and only guessing what might be thrown up against them.

But there were many bright moments of victory in the battle!

Doug Wead ~ Corruption in GA

From description under YT video ~

On Saturday March 10th, in Athens, GA, the democratic process was trampled on. The Athens-Clarke county GOP met to hold their annual county convention. The convention was held to nominate, approve, and pass slates of delegates to the party's district and state conventions. County chairman Matt Brewster and nominating committee chairman John Elliot blatantly broke the rules of their own party when they improperly, and without a majority, passed delegate slates and adjourned the convention amidst cries for "division", which is a call for a standing head count. With that, many sitting precinct delegates were disenfranchised, and the convention was improperly closed. When warned that their conduct was jeopardizing the status of the delegates and alternates for the entire county, the chair Matt Brewster directed all questions to John Padgett, who is the Secretary of the Georgia State Republican Party. Unfortunately, Mr. Padgett refused to answer questions and fled the scene along with the rest of the local GOP leadership. (continued on YT)

Newt Gingrich Tried to Install Internal Passports On Us In 1998 – Guess Who Stopped Him?

The question the American people—conservatives and liberals alike—need to be asking themselves is—do they want a man in the White House who has already tried, and failed, to impose an Internal Passport on them? The Soviets did it to the Russian people in 1917. The fascists in Italy did it in 1924. The Nazis did it to the German people in 1933, and Newt Gingrich tried to do to the American people in 1998.

Guess who stopped him?

I was in attendance. My whole district was made up of Ron Paul supporters. We were unable to get ANYONE through to the state or district convention. Instead, the "nominating committee" sent through two people who we had never met nor were in attendance. But the main point here is, the only reason this happened was because they broke their own procedural rules, and it was caught on tape.

RCP: Romney Really Might NOT Have the Delegates by June

This article from Real Clear Politics, while speculative.....is also very interesting...

The Republican primary has revealed distinct geographic tendencies. Mitt Romney is dominant in New England and in the West. Newt Gingrich has run well in the Deep South, while Rick Santorum has done well in caucus states, the Great Plains, and the peripheral South (it remains to be seen whether his support has bled into Gingrich's strength in the Deep South). That leaves the Midwest as a battleground between Romney and Santorum.

While Romney had a good night on Super Tuesday, the truth is that he did nothing to alter the basic regional nature of his support. He won handily in New England and the West, essentially tied in the Midwest, and ran poorly in the South.

Given the structure of the primary season, this portends a long slog to the nomination, and makes it difficult for Romney to wrap up the nomination early on. Consider the schedule, and the following possible outcomes:
